Healthy Whole Wheat Waffles

Serves: 5 round 7" waffles
These whole wheat waffles are simple to make and delicious to eat
  • 1.5 cups (180 grams) white whole wheat flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1.5 cups (360 ml) 1% milk, lukewarm
  • ⅓ cup (75 grams) unsalted butter, melted
  1. Preheat waffle iron.
  2. In a large bowl, mix together the flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the egg, milk, and butter.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients onto the dry and stir until just combined. Don't over-mix or the waffles will be tough.
  5. Cook the batter in your waffle iron according to the appliance instructions.
  6. Serve on their own, or with yogurt, fruit, and maple syrup.
